About the event
Understanding Sextortion
Sextortion has emerged as a growing threat to personal privacy and security, with devastating emotional and financial consequences for students and their families.
What is Sextortion?
Sextortion is a form of online blackmail involving sexually explicit images or videos used to extort money or other forms of exploitation from the victim. Typically, the perpetrator obtains compromising images or videos through social media or other online platforms and then threatens to share them unless the victim complies with their demands, which may include money, sexual favors, or other forms of exploitation.
Why We Need To Talk About This
With increased media coverage about sextortion, it's crucial to address this growing threat to our students' personal privacy and security. This webinar will move beyond the outdated strategy of social media contracts, focusing instead on meaningful conversations and evolving guidelines to protect our children.
Protecting Our Kids in the Age of Deepfakes & Synthetic Relationships
In this crucial webinar, Safe on Social takes parents through the emerging and disturbing trend of deepfake technology - a powerful AI tool capable of altering photos and videos to make it appear as though individuals are saying or doing things they never did. With a significant rise in deepfake bullying within schools, it's paramount that we arm parents with the knowledge and tools to protect their children. From manipulated images of teachers to students becoming unwitting victims, the consequences can be severe, often leading to legal battles and emotional distress.
